The Royal Thai Police (RTP) has unveiled the nation’s first AI robot, equipped with facial recognition tech, to assist in surveillance and public safety efforts. The new AI-powered robot named Police Colonel Nakhonpathom Plod Phai — meaning “Nakhon Pathom is safe” — was rolled out in Nakhon Pathom province during the Songkran festival. Nicknamed “AI Police Cyborg 1.0,” the robot officer features a Robocop-style design and is outfitted with advanced 360-degree AI-powered surveillance cameras. The robot processes real-time video feeds collected from nearby CCTV cameras and drone patrols, providing enhanced surveillance.
